Q: Full papers: I have just received the good news that my full paper has been accepted. Will my full paper get published in the Conference Proceeding as well? And Will it be presented in oral or poster?

A: All accepted full papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings CD that carries the ISBN 978-988-18659-1-5. The two Conference Co-Chairs and the General Chair will select 30 best papers for a printed book under a series title

"Series on Innovation and Knowledge Management Vol. 8". The 30 papers will be edited and proofread by Sept. 30 and be submitted to the publisher World Scientific. Authors of accepted full papers are invited to select 3 choices from the 7 journals mentioned at the ICKM website (http://www.ickm2009.org/) as a possibility of having their papers appeared in a special issue in one of the journals. The three choices should be arranged as follows and authors should send in their choices to ickm2009@gmail.com by Sept. 15. All presentations will be done orally.

Q: Full papers: I am very happy to find that my full paper has finally been accepted for the presentation at ICKM 2009. I have already submitted my full paper in the final version (following the required format) to the conference mailbox. I'd like to ask if in the case that my paper is not chosen to be one of the best 30 papers so it will not be published either in the printed proceedings or the listed journals, my full paper (not only the abstract) would still be published in the conference proceedings CD rom? Is my understanding correct?

A: If your accepted full paper is not chosen to be one of the best 30 papers, it simply means that it will not be included in a printed book under a series title "Series on Innovation and Knowledge Management Vol. 8". However, it still can be considered for publication in one of the 7 journals mentioned at http://www.ickm2009.org/. And your full paper will still be included in the Conference Proceedings CD that carries an ISBN.

Q: Accepted Submissions: Where can I find a list of accepted papers/presentations for the conference?

A: Please visit the website - http://ocs.cite.hku.hk/index.php/ickm2009/ickm2009/schedConf/presentations.

Q: Registration: Can you let me know the registration arrangements for the track chairs? Do we need to register, pay registration fee, etc?

A: Except for Organizing Committee members, all Program Track Chairs / Committee members need to pay registration fee for attending the conference. This has been the practice of ICKM. For example, for ICKM 2008, session chairs and International Program Committee members also need to pay the registration fee. Please try and see if your company can become our Platinum, Gold, or Silver sponsor (http://www.ickm2009.org/snews/home/sponsorship-opportunities/). If yes, you and/or a few of your colleagues can attend the conference for free.

Q: Registration - for presenters: Does the presenter need to pay the registration fee as well?

A: Presenters of  ICKM conference do need to pay the registration fee. Professionals look at this conference as a great way to learn from one another and to network. Each accepted submission needs to have one different registrant, although one can present several papers at the conference.

Q: Registration - for students: I wonder if the registration on the website for Discount Student is available for students outside Hong Kong as well?

A: It is fine for students outside HK to get the discount price.  Please kindly visit the website (http://www.ickm2009.org/snews/home/registration-and-accommodation-/) and please note that we would like to request for proof of your student status.  Please see the above website for the requirements.

Q: Registration - for ICKM Track Chairs / Committee Members: I am an author of one of the paper and committee member in ICKM. Do I need to pay the full fee?

A: While we appreciate your help for being a ICKM committee member (or track chair), it has been the tradition of ICKM that committee members will register and pay the full fee (http://ickm2009.pbworks.com/Registration-and-Accommodation) as a regular participant so that we can raise enough money to finance all the cost for running the conference.

Q: Registration - MUST use IE: My PC is a Macintosh and so I do not have Internet Explorer and therefore cannot use the online registration system?

A: We've checked with our colleague who built the system and he confirmed that the user MUST use IE because the application was written in MS .NET.  Please use a Windows machine for registration.

Q: "Research in Progress" proposals: I submiited a full paper and it was accepted as a "Research In Progress" proposal. So the paper will NOT be included in the conference proceedings CD with ISBN? That is very important to us, since without a publication with ISBN we can't get a refund and thus we won't be able to attend the conference.

A: Your paper accepted as a "Research In Progress" proposal simply means that it will not be considered for the 30 best papers for a printed book under a series title "Series on Innovation and Knowledge Management Vol. 8". However, it still can be considered for publication in one of the 6 journals mentioned at http://www.ickm2009.org/. And you should base on the reviewers' comments (those that make sense to you) to revise your paper and send it back asap, say by Sept. 30. If you need more time, please submit it to the Conference mailbox (ickm2009@gmail.com) by Oct. 20 so that it can still be included in the Conference Proceedings CD that carries an ISBN. If your paper comes in after Oct. 20, it will be included in the Conference website.

Q: "Research in Progress" proposals: My accepted proposal was for a "research in progress". Do you wish me to make the suggested revisions to the abstract? Or to the eventual paper?

A: Since the abstract of accepted “research in progress" (RIP) proposals will be made public at http://ocs.cite.hku.hk/index.php/ickm2009/ickm2009/schedConf/presentations, it’ll be a good idea to take the reviewers’ comments (those that make sense to you) to revise the abstract and send it back. Regarding the full paper developed from your RIP proposal, if you can send it in asap (say by Sept. 30), the special journal issue editors may be able to consider it as long as the quality is good. If you need more time, please submit it to the Conference mailbox (ickm2009@gmail.com) by Oct. 20 so that it can still be included in the Conference Proceedings CD that carries an ISBN. The publisher for the conference CD is The Centre for Information Technology in Education (CITE), Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong. If your paper comes in after Oct. 20, it will be included in the Conference website.

Q: Visa: We would like to register 3 of our employees to attend the ICKM 2009 being held in Hong Kong. Please let us know if it is possible that they pay the registration fee in cash when they arrive in Hong Kong? Since they are Iranians if entry visas are needed please advise how to apply?

A: Paying cash is not possible. Pl see http://ickm2009.pbworks.com/Registration-and-Accommodation regarding registration. For visa application, please check in your own country or go online at http://www.gov.hk/en/nonresidents/visarequire/index.htm
