* Full-time students refer to students who are currently receiving full time education in a tertiary institution/school in year 2009-2010.  Registrants who are full-time students must provide a proof of their student status in the form of a valid student card and/or academic record with information of their institutions. Please send the letter together with the remittance advice to CITE (if you use bank transfer) by fax or by email for verification. If you pay by credit card, please send the proof and write down your name & payment confirmation number to CITE.

 

**NGO (Non-governmental organization) refers to an organization with very limited budget which is raised mainly through donations. This includes volunteer sectors, civil societies, grassroots organizations, self-help organizations, and others (e.g., Oxfam International, Boys and Girls Club). Educational institutions (e.g., universities and schools) are not considered as NGOs in general.  A NGO registrant must provide proof of his/her status with an official letter issued by the organization stating the nature/type of the NGO and your affiliation with the NGO. Please send the letter together with the remittance advice to CITE (if you use bank transfer) by fax or by email for verification. If you pay by credit card, please send the letter and write down your name & payment confirmation number to CITE.

A hard bound book containing 30 best full papers from the conference and it carries the series title "Series on Innovation and Knowledge Management - Vol. 8" (see http://www.worldscibooks.com/series/sikm_series.shtml for previous volumes). The retail price for the book is about USD 100. HKD 300 (USD 40)

Conference Dinner (This fee covers only part of the dinner cost which is estimated to be HKD 250 - 350 per person. The rest of the dinner cost will be covered by sponsors.).

*For every participant, the basic registration fees include: 

   1.  Participation in all conference sessions

   2.  Conference proceedings in a Conference CD with an ISBN

   3.  Conference material (including program and conference give away)

   4.  Coffee breaks

 

*Participants may pay the optional items for: 

   1.  A book containing 30 best full papers of the conference

   2.  A conference dinner

 

For example, if you are not eligible for a registration fee reduction but register as an early bird for the conference and sign up before 21 Sept. 09 for the conference dinner and having a book copy of full papers, you will pay a total of HKD 3200 (2700+300+200).

 

*Reminders:

  • The conference accepts registration fee to be paid by bank transfer (telegraphic transfer) and credit card through the online system. Other payment methods like cheque / cash / bank draft will not be accepted.
  • Non-local registrants: These registrants are requested to bear the bank charge and processing fee charged by your own bank for the telegraphic transfer. There will also be the bank charge at the end of HSBC and the conference will bear the cost.
    • Registrants must write the remark stated in the table above when they perform the bank transfer so that the University of Hong Kong Finance Office will know the source of this income.
    • As soon as you have completed the bank transfer, please fax the remittance advice to the conference secretariat (CITE) at (852) 2517 7194 or email the scanned copy of the advice to cite@hkucc.hku.hk for us to verify the transaction.  Please kindly write down the participant’s name, date and time of the transfer and country & city of origin on the advice.
  • Local registrants: Local participants in Hong Kong should transfer the money to the HSBC account and then fax or email the remittance advice to us. 
  • Registrants are requested to add up the total amount amount of payment on top of the registration fee if you would like to buy the conference book and/or attend the conference dinner.

*Terms of cancellation:

Authors for articles included in the ICKM 2009 conference proceedings cannot cancel their registration.

All requests for refund will be processed and mailed after the ICKM 2009 conference dates.  Refund will be made in accordance with the following schedule:

  • For cancellation made on or before 30 September 2009, 30% of the total registration fee will be forfeited.
  • For cancellation made on or before 3 November 2009, 50% of the total registration fee will be forfeited.
  • For cancellation made after 3 November 2009, no refund will be made.

 

Accommodations:

Primarily serves as a guest house of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) for visiting scholars from overseas. It is situated in a scenic spot in HKU's main campus on the mid-levels on the western side of Hong Kong Island. It can be accessed by public transportation and a taxi ride from Central which takes about ten minutes. 

Conference rate: About HKD 500 (USD 65) per night - same rate for single and double occupancy.

Twenty rooms are reserved for the conference participants on a first-come, first-served basis

 

It is located at the Western District on the Hong Kong Island over-looking the Victoria Harbour, and it is within a 10-minute drive from the HKU main campus. The Macau ferry pier and the Central's business, entertainment & shopping district are also nearby.

  • Hong Kong Island Pacific Hotel

    The Hong Kong Island Pacific Hotel is one of the major hotels in the area and it offers easy access to the Central business district. It is about a 5 to 10-minute drive away from the HKU main campus.

          Special offer for ICKM 2009 participants: About HKD 790 per room per night.

 

It is located amidst the traditional shops and restaurants of the old Hong Kong island district. It offers easy transport links  to the airport, ferry, business, and entertainment districts. The hotel is within a 10-minute drive from the HKU main campus.

Some guest rooms are available at our student residential halls (at reasonable rates) for temporary accommodations. Several halls offer such rooms, and they are all located within the surrounding area of the HKU main campus.
